Using WISCAT

The links on this page are for NWTC students and faculty who wish to request materials from the Wisconsin catalog (WISCAT). If you are not affiliated with NWTC, please use the WISCAT links on your public library's website to initiate requests.

Searching WISCAT

WISCAT logo WISCAT is the statewide catalog for most Wisconsin libraries (including NWTC). 

Note: Use Chrome or Firefox for the best results.

Use the Basic Search box at the top of the screen or click on Advanced for more search options.

  • Choose Title if you are searching for a specific item.  Choose Subject if you are searching more broadly.
  • The following words are optional: and, at, by, etc., for, from, in, of, on, to, with.
  • As you type, options will appear below the search box.  You can select one of those options or type the Enter key or click the magnifying glass icon to search the keywords you entered.

Important: As you look at the results list, WISCAT will continue to bring in records from other libraries and will show you in a gray bar on the bottom of the page how many resources are still being searched. searching additional resources bar

If you have been interacting with the results already, you will get a message about additional results that have been found.  Click on Update to see the results from the rest of the resourcesadditional results available bar with Update button

As you are reviewing results, you can click the "Push Button" icon index finger pushing buttonunder the book image to request the item from another library. If there is no push button, click on the image of the book cover to learn more about the book and then click the Request button on the right or the orange Request This Item on the left..
