General Bb Linking Rules

The NWTC Library subscribes to over 150,000 ebooks, 50,000 ejournals, and 30,000 online videos that are high quality and licensed under copyright agreements.

Avoid Off-Campus Problems:

  1. Make sure you are starting with a "clean" url.  If your url starts with "" it was accidently changed by the NWTC webmail server when you copied it from email.  Go back and copy it again by highlighting the actual url text and choosing copy (not Copy Shortcut).
  2. Ensure your links to Library resources are set to Open in a New Window.
  3. Make sure the NWTC Proxy Prefix is included at the beginning of Library links (except for LinkedIn Learning videos, Ebook Central ebooks, and Safari ebooks and videos).

Use the tabs on the left to see specific examples of how to link to various Library resources.

Adding a URL through Build Content

Click on Build Content and select Web Link

Enter the link name and url.  Remember to include the proxy prefix at the beginning of the url (unless you are linking to LinkedIn Learning, Ebook Central, or Safari).

Scroll down and click in the circle next to Yes to Open in New Window. Then click Submit.

Adding a Hyperlink to Text

Select the Item that you want to edit.  Highlight the text to be linked and click the Hyperlink button (looks like a piece of chain link).Screenshot of editing tools

Enter the url (including the proxy prefix unless it is for LinkedIn Learning, Safari, or Ebook Central).

In Target, select Open in New Window from the drop down menu. Click Submit.
