Linking to Articles from Library Resources

You can link directly to articles from NWTC-subscribed resources throughout your Blackboard Learn classes.  While you will probably start your article search at our Library Search feature, you will be taken to one of our databases to actually read the article and get the link for Blackboard Learn.

The instructions below are for the most commonly used - EBSCO Articles, ProQuest Articles, and Opposing Viewpoints Articles.

Linking to EBSCO Articles

EBSCO icon  Once you find an article in EBSCO Articles, click on the article title.   Then click on the Permalink tool on the right side of the screen.  Copy the url that pops up at the top of the screen

Paste the url into Blackboard Learn.  Remember to have the link open in a new window.

Linking to ProQuest Articles

ProQuest icon Once you find an article in ProQuest Articles, click on the title article title.

Highlight the url in the browser's address bar and copy it to your clipboard.

Paste the url into Blackboard Learn.  Now you need to add the proxy prefix to the beginning of the url: https://ezproxy.nwtc.edu/login?url= (this ensures that students from off-campus can access the ebook). 

 https://ezproxy.nwtc.edu/login?url=https://search.proquest.com/docview/872334388/5DD0D68199C54B42PQ/2?accountid=4328

Remember to have the link open in a new window.   Click Submit.

Linking to Opposing Viewpoints Issue Guides, Articles and Book Chapters

Opposing Viewpoints icon Find an Issue Guide or Article in Opposing Viewpoints by clicking on the Browse Issues tab at the top of the screen or by searching.

Then go to the top of the screen and click on Bookmark  Copy the url that pops up on the screen 

 

Paste the url into Blackboard Learn.  

Now you need to add the proxy prefix to the beginning of the url (this allows students to open the article from off-campus) - https://ezproxy.nwtc.edu/login?url=  

 

Remember to have the link open in a new window.   Then Submit.
