Adding a Library Search (EBSCO) Resource to a Module

Library Search (EBSCO) lets you search the library's physical and online resources using one simple search box.

To add a Library Search resource to an existing Canvas Module:

  1. Click the Module Add item + button plus sign.
  2. In the Add [Item Type] drop-down menu, select External Tool.

  1. Scroll down the list and select Library Search EBSCO.

  1. A new window will pop up. Search for an article, ebook, or online video. You can use the filter options at the top of the screen to limit your results to resources that are available full-text online and peer reviewed.

  1. When you find a resource you want to add to Canvas, first confirm that the item is available in full text (for articles) or online (video or ebook). Then click on the blue Add Item button.

  1. You will return to the Canvas Add Item box. Scroll down to edit the Page Name.
  2. Click the red Add Item button. And don't forget to Publish! 

Student View

When a student clicks on the link, they will be taken to the record for the item and will need to click on Access Now.

For some articles, students will need to click the Full Text Finder link to be taken out of EBSCO to the full text in a different Library resource or website. Access options full text finder option
